1963 Other Mercury Models Stalls At Stop Sign If Accelerate

If I press the gas pedal to quickly the car will stall out at a stop sign or stop light. It takes slow acceleration before I can put the pedal to the medal. Is this a carb adjustment problem?

the carb more than likely needs rebuilding.......
