Shakes or Wobbles problem
1996 Mercury Mystique 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 150000 miles

my car steering wheel shakes and my car makes a sound when its going, i took it too a mechanic and he told me that i need a catalystic converter because its not picking up speed and it seems like my engine is chocking but it cost a lot and i want to know if this is really it before i get it.

Those cars had an inherent shake. I doubt the converter is related to the shake. Is the check engine light on? Were the codes checked? If so, I need them.
