Front pads:
Removal & Installation

Before servicing the vehicle, please familiarize yourself with safety procedures.
Remove the brake pads.
Remove and discard the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts.
Remove the brake caliper anchor plate.

To install:

Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Observe the following anchor plate bolts tightening torques:

Aviator 155 ft. Lbs. (210 Nm) 2002 Explorer and Mountaineer 83 ft. Lbs. (112 Nm) 2003-05 Explorer and Mountaineer 100 ft. Lbs. (136 Nm)

Lubricate the brake caliper guide and locator pins with silicone grease.

Rear Pads:

Removal & Installation

Before servicing the vehicle, please familiarize yourself with safety procedures.
Disconnect the rear parking brake cable guide.
Remove the axle shaft.
Remove the bolts and the rear wheel disc brake adapter.

To install:

Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
Torque the adapter bolts to 80 ft. Lbs. (108 Nm).
