2003 Mercury Mountaineer Will not star

My vehicle was running until I put my truck into reverse then shut off when I put it in drive and now it will not restart.

Have seen once before the filter in the tranny pop off, causing this problem, might be worth a look.
Before you do that tho, try it in neutral...
