2003 Mercury Mountaineer 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160k miles

Hello,I am having a steering problem with car, whenever I turn the wheel a whole rotation,it seems to skip or kind of jump if you will and just feels weird and it scares me because I just had to drop a grand repairing a brake problem..it also makes a loud humming sound...whenever I turn it this way the whole car jerks and it feels as thought I'm driving ovlotslot of bumps when I'm actually driving on flat ground

Common for Ford power steering systems with high mileage.First have the system drained and refilled with fres fluid. This will give some lubrication quality back to the fluid.I usually add about 2 Tbs's of STP engine oil treatment and drive the vehicle to get it mixed into the system.I have had good luck wth that, but you have to drive it for a little bit to get it worked in
