2003 Mercury Mountaineer 03 Mountaineer Turning Issues

When I have the wheels turned and then put the car in reverse or drive, it does not move at all. I really have to push on the gas pedal to get it to move. Reverse is worse than drive but both are when I have the wheels turned. Any suggestions as to what may be wrong with it?

Is the vehicle a full time 4wd? If so, check the transfer case oil is to make sure it is full and clean.
