Fan clutch

1995 Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6 83000 miles.

Since the clutch was replaced by a repair shop it is engaged for the first five minutes while the car is on fast idle, (67 degrees F ambient) makes a terrific racket, after about five minutes the clutch torque decreases and the engine sounds normal.

My question, What is the torque / temperature relationship of the fan clutch as the engine warms up?

It seems the fan should be off during initial warm up.

Works on bi-metalic spring. Like an old choke thermostat. The hotter it gets the tighter it winds and the more power to the fan.
