2001 Mercury Marquis V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 211500 miles

The fan blows great, but it's not heating up. It will get "warm", but barely warm enough to defrost the windshield.

sounds to me that you should change the temperature control valve and flush out the coolaant system and heater core, then bleed it of air.
