2000 Mercury Marquis

Hello,
I have two problems that I'd like help fixing. I have a 2000 Grand Marquis.

1) My lighter doesn't work. I try charging my GPS and it doesn't work. How do I troubleshoot this and work to fix this?
2) For some reason, my button unlocker doesn't work anymore. The one that you can enter a number combo in to unlock the car. It was working fine and now all in a sudden it doesn't work. How do I troubleshoot this and make it work?

On side of that, I have one other question out of curiousity:
3) On the passenger side, under the glove box, there is something similar to a lighter outlet, what is this? I thought it was another one at first, but now I'm thinking otherwise. Any ideas?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi:
Have you checked the fuse for these items? Also, I'm not sure what you are describing. Can you upload a picture of it for me to see.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the fuse for the lighter. Where would the fuse be for the lock? One thing that I noticed is that the "0" doesn't light up if I am trying to unlock the car at night.

Thanks, and happy new year!

Hi:
If you have an owner's manual, the fuse info should be in it.

As far as the pictures, that is a power outlet for items you need to power, GPS, games, spot light.

Let me know about the fuse.

Hello,
I will look at the manual for the fuse.

When I plug my GPS into the thing shown in the pictures, it doesn't work. Perhaps that is due to the same fuse that runs the cig. Lighter?

Thanks.

I replaced the fuses today. The cig lighter and the other power source now work. However, the lock still does not.

Before I changed the fuse (a different one from the lighter one), I unlocked all of the doors, get out of the car, and closed the door. Then pressed the "7|8" & "9|0" buttons, at the same time, and nothing happened.

Now I tried the same thing, and the doors locked, but the combo I used to use still does not unlock the doors. What is the next step I should take to get the lock working? Thanks!
