Mechanic tells me the a/c compressor has burned out. Is there an easy way to allow the pulley on the compressor to continue to turn with the drive belt. I do not need the a/c to work, but cannot have the compressor lock up and keep the drive belt from turning and keep the car from running.

Hello,

As long as the A/C Clutch is not engaged you should be fine. If your are concerned about it there is an aftermarket pulley to replace the A/C Compressor.
