1997 Mercury Marquis ticking sound

1997 Mercury Marquis 91000 miles

Hi,
This car is in show room shape....today, a sound, like loud ticking started behind or under the dash. It does it consistantly.....starts when the key is "on" but engine isn't running...and the engine running does not change the sound.

It sounds like there is a vent door that is stuck. Check if you can find where it is coming from.
