i have a 2001 mercury cougar. the power steering has been leaking really bad i have to completely fill it up once a week. i was told that fords use automatic transmission fluid in the power steering and i know that mercury is just about the same as for so i was wondering if this applied to me as well and if that could be a reason why it is leaking so bad

Find the leak! if you don't see one with a leak this large, pull off the clip on the dust boot on the rack, it's full by now! then fill with Mercon ATF XT-2-QDX
Tranny fluid! Oh yea...fix the leak first!
