2001 Mercury Cougar brake hose

Trying to replace brake hose. What do I turn to losen the old hose from the wire brake line without destroying my brake line.

Loosen the brake line fitting, it is a flarred nut that sits freely on the hose so you do not have to worry about snapping off the brake line.
