Hi, While driving yesterday the clutch (shifter not clutch pedel) on my 2000 Cougar suddenly lost all tension and will no longer shift. My car is now stuck in second gear. What is going on and can it be repaired without replacing the entire clutch. I really can't afford that right now.

Thanks!!

It sounds to me as if you lost the shifter links
you should have it checked
and I don’t believe its the clutch
