2000 Mercury Cougar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My car's battery light came on and I was guessing itt was the altinaor sence the car still runs. How hard would it be to change myself? Is there a way to check it myself?

Changing an alternator isnt too difficult, but getting the serp belt on and off is hard for beginners. Remove negative battery cable before you start to replace the altenator.
