1999 Mercury Cougar 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

I installed a new timing belt after the old one broke, the engines idles fine and runs fine at highway speeds but hesitates badly at low speeds, usually while in 2nd or 3rd gear.

ensure your timing marks are aligned properly. did timing belt break during driving? if so, could have damaged internal parts of engine (bent valves, etc..)
