1999 Mercury Cougar 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 126xxx miles

I have a 99 cougar. 126xxx every once in a while it emits white smoke from the exhaust and i noticed during a video i made it shoots out a lot of water http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eamSDloxNMi have to add coolant about once a week. the car runs fine but after long drives on the highway 60+mph it smells really hot. the temp guage says its running at a normal temperature though? any insight would be great.

wouldn't be surprised if you have a failed head gasket. easy test for this is to remove radiator cap **WHILE COOL** then start vehicle *MAKE SURE NOONE IS NEAR RADIATOR AREA**. rev engine up a bit, if coolant shoots up out of radiator opening then you have cracked head gasket or head.
