When the car is turned on, and shift to a gear, it does not move. It doesn't make any noises, or jerks in any way. Can it be a sensor?

Have you had your transmission checked? I have a 99 cougar and the transmission blew in it and i had to have it rebuilt. There's something about the way the transmission in a cougar (and other Ford and Mazda cars) are made where they will blow, so pretty much any cougar transmission will blow.
