1999 Mercury Cougar brake lights not working

hello, for some reason the brake lights stopped working. i have chaecked bulbs fuses, wiring at the lights and changed the brake light switch(the one by the pedal). i'm pretty lost now......lol Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

If the cyclops is out also check or replace the multifunction switch...

is the cyclops the brake light switch? and where would i find the multifunction switch?

No cyclops is the middle or highmount in the back window, the multi is the turn signal switch on the column..
