1994 Mercury Cougar idle varys

1994 Mercury Cougar V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic n/a miles

when i start it up the idle (rpms)go up/down/up/down for a half min too a min from below 1000 rpm too 3500. Some times when i put it in gear it will run high as well till i shift too nurtal for a min or so and it will do fine. also hasatates from when i go into passing gear. been told its the oxygen sencer. if so where is it and how do i replace it.

Clean out the idle air control valve and test the throttle position sensor and also clean the MAF sensor.
