1994 Mercury Cougar blows cold air

i just recently purchased an 1994 mercury cougar and the heater doesnt work. the heater blows cold air and the tepature guage seems to be working it runs halfway at normal operation. any advice?

Check if the heater core is clogged and heater control valve functioning properly if okay-replace thermostat and check the coolant level-
