1993 Mercury Cougar Heater does not stay warm

1993 Mercury Cougar V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 151000 miles

I am having a problem with my the heater in my 93 cougar. It takes a long time to get warm and when it does it doesn't stay warm. When I turn up the fan it seems to get cold again. I have put anti- freeze in the radiator and it doesn't seem to help. Could some please give me a possible solution to my problem. Thanks

Sounds to me that you need a new thermostat, the old one may be stuck open causing the coolant not to heat up!
