The engine turns over really slow. After almost runnin the batery down it might start. I was told that the timing belt was gone but it dosn't turn over fast

Load test the battery if it can hold 9.6 volts in 10secs if not replace it, if okay do a starter current draw-could be the starter overunning clutch is slipping.
