My sons mercury has 160,000 miles it is a 89 mercury cougar with v-8. The digital part of the speedometer and the gas gauge went out we have replaced theinstrument cluster and it still doesn't work what could it be?

I will have to check my book, butyou might check the fuses for the gauges, they are in the fuse box under the dash, I think they are labed cluster panel or something like that. If that dont work get back to me and we will see what we can do.
