1991 Mercury Capri Failure to start

When engine is cold or car hasn't run for a while it won't start without spraying ether in the intake port[img]]. Engine run good once its running. And will start up good when the engine is hot. I've recently had a new fuel pump, gas tank and filter put on. Please advise my next step. Test the engine coolant temperature sensor/Fp relay if okay check the fuel pressure-
