Just replaced my fuel pump was very much needed with a brand new one . Problem is now my car takes a while to start and make a tik, tik noise and not sure why. Could it be a plug not put in correctly ?

We need to check fuel pressure. This sounds like it is not getting fuel and as it cranks it starts to get the proper amount of fuel. The spec at idle is 53-60 PSI.

After 30 minutes of the engine off, it should be around 35 PSI. I suspect the pump is the issue of the long crank. However, the ticking noise could be related. So I would suggest solving the cranking issue first and then we can address the noise if it is still there.
