I just replaced the fuel filter on my SL500. It is installed correctly with the arrow pointing toward the engine. Everything went smooth.. no leaks or probs. When i took it out for a drive check afterwards the engine idles rough and when accelerating from a stop, the engine acts as if it is starved for gas for about 5-8 sec and then it takes off like a "bat out of hell"!

What is your recommended solution? Could this be air in the fuel line? or another prob. The car was running great before the fuel filter change. No probs at all.

If you had no problems prior to the fuel filter replacement and are seeing problems now I would be suspect of the filter. Make sure all fittings on the filter are tight. If all looks correct I would suspect the filter itself. Although it does not happen often, many techs will tell you that bad replacement parts are always a remote posibility. I would check your fuel pressure. If you are not getting flow and the only repair you did was to replace the filter then I would get a new filter and see if the problem is corrected.
