If you just here a clicking noise and the engine is not trying to crank, you will need a new starter.
Ifthe vehicle's engine is trying to crank over, but will not start, we will need to start troubleshooting with checking the spark and the fuel. Check for proper spark at the plugs while an assistant is cranking engine. Spark should be jumping bright blue at each spark plug to wire (with plug wire boot pulled slightly away from plug). If spark is not present or is dull orange, replace plugs and wires.
Next you will need to use a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail, below vehicle. You should have 30 - 45 psi of fuel there.
