what causes the car to vibrate when travelling at or above 70 miles per hour

This could be a couple of things. First I would check your flex disks which attach your drive shaft to your transmission and differential. When these begin to crack you will get vibrations at higher speeds. Also a worn tranimission mount may cause a similar condition.
