I brought my 1996 Mercedes - C220 into a repair shop because of it had developed a very rough ride. Over the past six months, going over small bumps or holes in the road have has become like riding over parking lot speed bumps. Every ridge in the road is felt as a vibration in the steering wheel. Passengers used to be wowed by the smooth ride. Now every car they or I ride in has a smoother ride. The repair shop replaced the control arm ball joints, tie rod assembly, steering damper and all four shocks. Even after these changes, no significant improvement has been noticed. Did I get faulty shocks? What needs to be done to bring back the ride? Is there any way to measure the quality of ride objectively or scientifically? My luxury car ride is definitely gone.
