IS THERE ANY SPECIAL TOOLS OR PROCEDURE FOR REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR ON A ML320. I KNOW HOW FINICKY BENZS CAN BE.

You will need a set of torx sockets to get the two mounting bolts out and a set of vise grips to push the retainers back into the mounts. Make sure you have the battery disconnected before you remove the alternator.
