The vehicle is now stuck in gear because of shorting in the Shift Gate module (your gear selector) due to the liquid spilled in it. Repair of this problem is possible through replacement of the Shift Gate Module (gear selector assembly). This is a problem I would recommend having repaired at a dealership. The repair involves disassembling the entire interior center console and removing the heat shield over the transmission. The clip that connects your gear selector to the trans is very tricky to get off and on, and without familiarity with this repair or the proper tools, this can be very difficult to complete.
