I have a small tear (approx. 1 inch) in one of my leather/leatherette seats. What is the best way to repair it?

Repairing such a tear will be difficult. I hae heard of some custom upholestry shops tat may be able to tackle this but there is no kit or anything I'm aware of that could repair a 1 inch cut.
