When the car is cold,it first takes about 10 seconds to start and then idles at 1500 to 1800 until the engine reaches about 175 degrees.Where do I start to resolve this problem.I already set the points and timing to spec. Thanks

does the car have a carburetor on it?
if it does, it sounds like the choke AND the fast idle cam is not set (or moving) correctly.

with only 93,xxx miles on a car that old, i wouldn't be a bit surprised if the carb was gummed up.
