I wanted to know what would make my car jerk when i put it in reverse? And i also want to know what would make the engine jerk when the car reaches speeds of about 40mph

Suspect worn engine and/or transmission mounts. Inspect mounts and ensure the bushings are not worn out and allowing the engine/tranny to move.
