I think they may have put unleaded gas in my car instead of diesel when I went for a fill up last night. It was empty, so I filled it. Drove it for about 30 miles then it started pinging so I stopped. After that it wouldn't start and the battery died. Any advice on what to do next. I have been told to take out all of the gas, replace the filter and change the oil to start. Also heard I could actually put oil in it since unleaded doesn't have the right lubrication for the diesel engine. The car is old and has a lot of miles so I'm not sure I should put any money into it, or just leave it in Mexico. The only reason I am considering saving it is because I just spent over $500.00 putting in a used transmission. Any advice you could give would be great!

Sincerely,

Cheryl

Hi there,

If you drove it till it stopped you may well have destroyed the injector pump, as it is true that the diesel is lube for the system, you can try flushing the tank and lines, replacing the filter and bleeding the air out, but do not be surprised if this is to no avail, but it is worth a try.
