I have a 1989 300E Mercedes. The coolant level keeps going down but I cant find any leaks and it isnt over heating. I cant see any coolant coming out of the exhaust.

Because there is an engine guard almost directly below the waterpump, leaks may not be immediately apparent. Pumps begin to leam some time AFTER you have turned off theengine and it has cooled - thereby contracting the seals. Check for drips 30 minutes after the car has been driven and is now standing in one spot. The drip may appear to come from the transmission because it is being diverted by the engine guard. I had a similar problem and those suckers are hard to replace. I left it to the professionals, and the buggers busted my belt tensioner in the process
