1984 Mercedes Benz 300d Passenger front door latch

I cannot close the front passenger door. I believe it is due to a faulty door mechanism latch. I am not certain if this is the problem and am looking for this part or a way to fix it manually. Can you help? Thank you

it sounds to me like the latch has locked, why don't you try holding the inside lever in the open position and with your finger tried to open the latch manually
