1994 Mercedes Benz 280 how can I trouble shoot my cooling f

My electric cooling fans neither of them are working, I know that they are thermostaticly, but I have know more knowlege than that, ways that I can check them etc.

Try powering the cooling fans from the battery if okay-check and test the fan relays and engine temperature gauge sending unit or the coolant temperature sensor-if all okay its coming from the computer
