my gas pedal goes about half way to the floor before it works is there a way to addjust the linkage

Don't you dare touch that accelerator linkage you will never get it back right again, that is set by the factory and you do not want to mess with it, I believe you lost the Bushing located on the firewall, why don't you get an oil can and lubricate your linkage and inspect it to make sure it is working properly let me know if I can be of any help.
