1992 Mercedes Benz 190e cruise control

It seems that the multi-purpose switch on the column is bad or has a connection problem like a shorted switch.
Be careful about playing with it or working it too hard. My Cruise rarely worked unless I repeatedly kept moving the switch arm/handle. After that it wore out or got much worse, and now will just take off at full throttle without warning. But I torqued mine too much. I just bump it down and back gently
if there is a problem. I guess I work on this next or find out if I can unhook it, currently replacing the ball joints tomorrow/tonight.
