1992 Mercedes Benz 190e Brand new battery, sometimes can do

Hi, I just put a brand new interstate battery in my Benz. Sometimes my car doesn't start. I think it's the alternator. When I try to start, it appears like the battery is dead. The lights go dim inside and out. Then I get a jump, and the car starts right up.

Start vehicle and use a multimeter across battery terminals. You should get a reading of 13.5 volts or over @ idle. If not replace alternator. Have the battery tested. Even a new battery could be faulty
