while maintaining a moderate constant speed on the smaller gears,there is a HUM that is produced.And i would like to know how to set the timing in the engine in my car.(MY CAR IS A 1985 MERCEDES BENZ 190D).

your humming sound sounds like the transmission is low on oil or you have a bad bearing, now the procedure about timing your vehicle will take some time I will tell you if you respond.
