idle

i have a mazda b2200 and at start it idles at 2500 to 3000 rpm,,, it will not release the high idle, which is 800 rpm's,,,,, I'v check all the link's for rust, and hanging up's and posible torn hoses, air licks.....it has a automatic trans. 2.2 eng. 1990 mazda truck it has 154623.6 miles,,,, The truck has an automatic choke on it. And it will not release it,,, went gas is applyed...... :mrgreen:

Check the fast idle cam adjustment this is the one that controls high idle during initial cold starts and gradually drop in steps to normal idle. also make sure the choke plate is fully open when engine comes up to normal temperature.

Inspect the throttle plate could be binding and accelerator cable
