truck starts and runs great, but then dies out of nowhere. it will always start back up, but it usually takes a five to ten minute wait. it is completely eratic, sometimes i drive it and have no problems, and sometimes i am sitting on the roadside wondering how far the truck will go before it dies again. i have replaced the whole ditributor and plug wires, and the truck still runs the same.

Try the fuel pump relay if it has one-also check the actual fuel pressure when it dies out it shouldn't lose all the pressure within 10mins.Check your fuel pump connector-

Is your truck and auto or a 5spd?

changed the hole distributor? you mean the whole thing not just the cap and rotor right?

Check the coil for leakage and corrosion on the bottom of it.

HAs a new gas tank been installed recently?

Well then take a look at that coil.

I am also wondering what the condition of the sending unit in the tank is. Sometimes the sending unit gets small pin holes in the lines that cause the fuel pump/ carb to suck air into the lines causing problems.

, have tried pouring small amounts of gas into carb when truck dies to no avail.

Your missing spark-otherwise it will fire up when you prime it.

Check for power at +pos term. of coil-if present-now crank engine over and while a voltmeter or test lite at the -neg terminal-VM or testlite should be fluctuating/blinking-if not check the ignitor-if it is blinking check the rotor, cap, and coil wire and the coil primary/secondary resistances.

Also it might have an external resistor that's inline with the primary circuit.

HTH-Good Luck!
