Check engine light came on, and since then the car has been idling rough. When stopped but still in drive (for example at a stop light) the RPM gauge will bounce around a little bit between as I can hear the engine running a little rough. When the car is in park the RPM gauge will sometimes go up to 2000 when it usually idles around 500.

Check the PCV and EGR valves to include the idle air control valve/throttle position sensor.
