leaking fluid

tranny fluid is leaking from the top of the shift boot.
i bought a middle boot kit and installed it in hopes of fixing it. also bought bushings. still get fluid leaking... smells awful and is very messy and annoying

If it smells really bad then you might want to consider changing it. Sour smelling lubricants indicate the presence of water and/or severe breakdown.
