Electrical problem
1991 Mazda RX7 Two Wheel Drive Manual 130000 miles

Hi i just replaced my starter in my rx7 and everything was working okay. i started it up multiple times and everytime it worked flawlessly. As soon as i got to my house i parked, shut the car off and then tried starting it back up. The car started up fine, but the started did not shut off. So, I shut the car off and pulled the key out of the ignition, but the starter was still on. i tried turning the car back on, but it did not work. So, the only thing i could do to shut it off was to pull the battery cable. I let the starter and engine cool off over night and tried reconnecting the batter the next morning, but as soon as i touched the battery with the cable, the starter engaged and was winding imediatly. What do you think the problem could be?
