2003 Mazda Protege My check engine light keeps coming on.

I have taken my car to the Mazda repair in Myrtle Beach, SC (BEACH) The check engine light blinks and then gets stationary. As I'm driving it feels like the car is slipping back and forth between going fast and slow. Then I come to a stop light and the car vibrates and feels like it's going to die. The repair person has redone the spark plugs and points, but that didn't help.It drives like a grain truck, at times.
