Engine Cooling problem
2002 Mazda Protege Automatic

Notice antifreeze on the ground this am Replaced the overflow tank since it was cracked now the car is running hot. The radiator is full..Where is the thermostat located and or what else could it be. After cooling the car, I checked the radiator and it was full. Any ideas?

The thermostat is on the engine, at the front of the car. Facing the motor, standing in front of the vehicle, it's to the lower left, kinda behind the exhaust manifold/downtube. Mine went bad one time and stuck in the closed position, causing the car to run hot. Also had a previous vehicle ( never changed the coolant) lose the water pump impeller. It just rusted away. Cheapest fix would be the thermostat, of course.
